We fully appreciate that during times of mourning, the last thing you want to read and worry about is a company's privacy policy. We completely get it, but it is important to us as a business, so please take a little time to familiarise yourself with ours detailed below. If you've got any questions about them or need any clarification, please get in touch.

The type of personal information we collect 

We currently collect and process the following information:

  • Personal identifiers, contacts and characteristics (for example, name, home address, telephone number, email address, paypal email address, as well as personal information of a sensitive nature regarding a deceased person and their family members)

 

HOW WE OBTAIN YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION & WHY WE USE IT

Most of the personal information we process is provided to us directly by you for one of the following reasons:

  • The writing of a eulogy for a deceased person, which may also make reference to living people, with their knowledge and informed consent.
     

We use the information you have given to us in order to share stories about the deceased person which include details of their personal and professional life, for example the deceased person's relationships with family and friends, their work, nicknames, their living arrangements, their religious and political beliefs, leisure activities, interests and personality traits.

In sharing the pre-approved eulogy we have been contracted to write, we will share personal information with people attending the funeral and/or memorial service for the deceased person.

Under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the lawful bases we rely on for processing this information are:

  1. Your consent. You are able to remove your consent at any time. You can do this by contacting us by email at hello@postscripteulogies.com

  2. We have a contractual obligation.

 

HOW WE STORE YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION

  • Your information is securely stored digitally on secured servers by our hosting company (Wix).

  • We keep your questionnaire and finished eulogy for three months following the approval of a final draft . We will then dispose your information by permanently deleting all these files. No paper copies of research notes or the final draft of the eulogy are made or stored.

The eulogy is the responsibility of the person who commissioned its writing. PostScript Eulogies writes eulogies in good faith based upon the information provided to us.

 

YOUR DATA PROTECTION RIGHTS

Under data protection law, you have rights including, but not limited to:

  • Your right of access - You have the right to ask us for copies of your personal information. 

  • Your right to rectification - You have the right to ask us to rectify personal information you think is inaccurate. You also have the right to ask us to complete information you think is incomplete. 

  • Your right to erasure - You have the right to ask us to erase your personal information in certain circumstances. 

  • Your right to restriction of processing - You have the right to ask us to restrict the processing of your personal information in certain circumstances. 

  • Your right to object to processing - You have the the right to object to the processing of your personal information in certain circumstances.

  • Your right to data portability - You have the right to ask that we transfer the personal information you gave us to another organisation, or to you, in certain circumstances.

You are not required to pay any charge for exercising your rights. If you make a request, you must do so in writing and we have one month to respond to you.
